Save Your Desktop Icon Layout

Save Your Desktop Icon Layout

Does Windows mess up your desktop icon layout for no apparent reason? Does your desktop layout go to hell when you update your graphic card’s drivers? Do you use two or more displays and your icons just go to random spots when you disconnect one of them?
Worry not, there’s an easy solution. I’m going to introduce you to Desktop Restore, a tiny free shell extension which works with Windows 7, 8 and 8.1 32/64-bit versions.
All there is to know about Desktop Restore is that it’s developed by Jamie O’Connell and
it’ll save your life. You can download this free extension from his website.

You can click the red bordered link to download the extension from the developer’s webpage.

After you’ve downloaded and installed it, you’ll have three new options in your right-click menu on your desktop: “Save Desktop”, “Restore Desktop” and “Custom Save/Restore”.

By selecting “Save Desktop” you can save your current layout arrangement of your icons, and using “Restore Desktop” you can go back to your saved layout. If you want more than one layout to be saved or when you want to delete your old saves, you can use the “Custom Save/Restore” option.
